Investigation of Characteristics landfill leachate using Large Scale Lysimeter under Anaerobic Conditions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Landfill behavior is dependent on the composition and characteristics of region’s municipal solid waste (MSW) environment conditions. In landfills that are difficult to understand, MSW undergoes several complex mechanisms such as physical, chemical, thermal biological processes throughout its lifespan. present research, by setting up an anaerobic reactor, attempt was made understand processes. The reactor monitored for a total 270 days under laboratory conditions, results obtained from experimental program presented discussed in this paper. involves monitoring experiments moisture content, pH, temperature, well physic-chemical leachate samples. pH values observed were 5.8-7.9 range indicate achievement optimal condition degradation. MSW’s average volumetric content temperature 53.03% percent 30.7 C?respectively, indicating favorable conditions microorganism growth. described paper could potentially be used predict behavior. research also allows planners engineers consider planning running efficiently sustainable management.

Statistical Analysis of Leachate Characteristics in Pilot Scale Landfill Lysimeter

The objective of this study was to analyze the characteristics of leachate in pilot scale landfill lysimeter for inorganic and organic compounds as well as metal and heavy metal concentrations against their operational conditions based on statistical tool through statistical package for social science (SPSS) software. To these attempts, three pilot scale landfill lysimeter test facilities were ...

Formulation of Sub-Pollution Indices and Evaluation of Leachate Pollution Index of Pilot Scale Landfill Lysimeter

(Received: July 21, 2012; Accepted in Revised Form: July 5, 2013) Abstract: The principal concern of this study is to formulate the sub-pollution indices (sub-LPIs) and evaluate the individual and overall leachate pollutant index (LPI) of pilot scale landfill lysimeter at KUET campus, Bangladesh. To these endeavors, leachate samples from collection chamber of landfill lysimeter were sampling an...

Influence of Landfill Operation and Tropical Seasonal Variation on Leachate Characteristics: Results from Lysimeter Experiment

This study demonstrates the influence of lysimeter operational condition and tropical seasonal variation of leachate characteristics generated from municipal solid waste (MSW) deposited in landfill lysimeter at KUET campus, Bangladesh. Three different situations of landfill were considered here as well as both the open dump lysimeter-A having a base liner and sanitary landfill lysimeter-B and C...

Anaerobic methane oxidation in a landfill-leachate plume.

The alluvial aquifer adjacent to Norman Landfill, OK, provides an excellent natural laboratory for the study of anaerobic processes impacting landfill-leachate contaminated aquifers. We collected groundwaters from a transect of seven multilevel wells ranging in depth from 1.3 to 11 m that were oriented parallel to the flow path. The center of the leachate plume was characterized by (1) high alk...

Eukaryotic diversity in an anaerobic aquifer polluted with landfill leachate.

Eukaryotes may influence pollutant degradation processes in groundwater ecosystems by activities such as predation on bacteria and recycling of nutrients. Culture-independent community profiling and phylogenetic analysis of 18S rRNA gene fragments, as well as culturing, were employed to obtain insight into the sediment-associated eukaryotic community composition in an anaerobic sandy aquifer po...
